Golf
- You can play as many competitions as you wish or as few. Club Competitions every Saturday and often on a Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Regular interclub fixtures; both mens, seniors and ladies enabling opportunity to play and compete against other clubs.
- The facility to play golf as many times as you wish on a very well maintained and challenging course with practice facilities.
- Tee time booking via our electronic system using the ‘BRS app’ to ensure your slot.
- A well-managed system to look after your official EGU handicap.
Golf Course
- Alfreton Golf Club is easy to get to with quick access to the A38/M1 and A61.
- The course plan means It is easy to play a few holes even in the evening and finish back at the Clubhouse. Our 10 holes enable easy completion of ‘a round’ of golf in 2 hours. Alternatively play the 18 hole format over two different layouts.
- Many years of drainage improvement on the course means few lost golf days in the year and the greens are open throughout the year. (No temporary greens)
- A friendly well qualified PGA Professional (Nev Hallam) to offer all types of equipment and clothing including coaching and advice; specialising in equipment technology and custom fitting.
- Access to a clubhouse incorporating a function room for members to use, with the availability of a range of food and drink. There are numerous social events held throughout the year in the clubhouse.
Value for Money
- Since 1892 The Club has been owned and run by its members. There is no commercially motivated, non-golfing body dictating priorities to it.
- Full membership facilities are available by a monthly subscription if required.
- Our Derbyshire County Card (free to members) provides an ‘easy to play’ option over 1100 other courses for normally about half a normal visitors fee. In addition, the “1892 club” giving access across the country to many courses to play free of charge.
- As an affiliated member of England Golf, our Members can register to be covered for personal liability insurance, if playing in the UK, up to £10M
Social and Wellbeing
- Researchers reviewed 5,000 studies into golf and wellbeing and found the sport has physical and mental health benefits for people of all ages and can even increase life expectancy by five years.
- People lead busy lives and can find making new friends difficult. Alfreton Golf Club is built on friendship. The Club’s pleasant surroundings are ideal to meet friends for a drink whether playing golf or not. There is a range of groups of current members, i.e. seniors, ladies, men and juniors providing a point of contact for all new members
- Arrive at the course on your own, make yourself known to the members and be assured of a partner, if possible. New members do not normally have any difficulty in finding a playing partner or obtaining a space in the competition starting sheets at a convenient time
