As the hot weather continued for yet another day, 10th July, the annual Alfreton vs Swanwick fixture, playing for A38 Trophy took place.

With its traditional format of 14 pairs of members and guests, the match was played in a competitive but friendly rivalry between the two sides to see who would have the honour to keep the Trophy for the next 12 months.

Chris Burnham for Alfreton and Dave Gould/Trev Parrett for Swanwick, had posted their selections earlier in the week and the match went ahead with everyone taking plenty of water on board for for hot conditions.

Alfreton were the Trophy holders having won a close match in 2025 and their good form continued with the usual suspense missing as Alfreton took an unassailable 7-4 lead and they finally won 8.5-5.5.

Post match drinks and pulled pork cobs were taken on the patio afterwards and in fading light Trevor handed the Trophy back to Chris for another year until the rematch in 2027.

A big thanks goes to all who participated and organised the night which raised nearly £400 for Club funds.
