A chilly start on Tuesday 18^th Feb saw 6 teams competing in the senior’s annual Texas Scramble Competition.

The course was in remarkably good condition given the volume of recent rain, and the greens in particular were in great shape given how early in the season it is.

Playing with a handicap allowance of 10% of the combined handicaps, three of the teams played above par by 0.6, 3.3 and 4.1 shots to finish 4^th, 5^th & 6^th respectively. The remaining 3 teams took the podium positions with scores of 0.2, 8.7, and an amazing 11.8 below par! The winning score was achieved with 5 birdies, 11 pars and just 2 bogies, so it’s a really well done to Alwyn Brooks, Dave Lowe, Clive Nattrass and John Clarke.

For once seniors captain Nigel Savage wasn’t on the winning team, and was in a very unusual 5^th place. He has, however, vowed to return to his all-conquering form for our next senior’s comp, the Pete Fisher Trophy on 6^th March.
