Outgoing captain Phil Taylor's end of term report

Captains Report AGM 2024

Welcome everyone and thank you for coming. Well, I think my second year as Captain has gone ok and luckily for all concerned (especially myself!) I do not need to do a third year. Both Denise and I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the members of the various committees, past Captains, and the membership in general for their fantastic support throughout the year.

I have learnt a lot over the last two years. AGC is a members club run by members voluntarily. It has an outstanding friendly and supportive community, a well maintained and challenging course, but without doubt its greatest asset are the members who create a warm and friendly place to play golf and enjoy yourself. It has, without doubt been, a privilege to serve as the club’s captain these past two years and in some way try and build and contribute to what makes AGC so special.

Denise, and I have worked extremely hard to raise as much money for our chosen charities this year. Last year Beryl and I raised an incredible £4,500 for The Air Ambulance Service and this year Denise and I have raised £2,700 for The Air Ambulance Service and £1,900 for The Ark, i.e. a total of £4,600 This could not have been achieved however, without your generous support and I suppose your continued ability to find The Captain’s Bunker which this year raised £265. The draw for the Captain’s Bunker will follow shortly.

Hopefully, there have been a few memorable moments for you all over the past year(s), I suppose my drive at the Captain’s Drive In was one of mine, nobody expected that did you!!. Which leads me to wish both Lisa Hutchins and Graham Lunn this year’s Captains the very best of luck on their Drive Ins this coming Saturday, (Not Really!) and the very best for the year ahead. I am sure they will be excellent ambassadors for AGC, serve the Club well and make your membership at AGC even more enjoyable.
