First seniors competition of the year

Who says it’s too early in the year to start competition golf. Our seniors section meet regularly on a Tuesday and Thursday morning, usually for a fiddle with a few quid at stake and 20ps for birdies. However through the year there are a number of ‘formal’ competitions and also a series of social matches played against local Clubs in the area.

Today, 25th January, was the first comp of the year, which due to the bad weather was held over from the 4th January, a betterball with 23 players signed up to play. Players were split into six groups and played a Yellowball stableford competition, best 2 from 4.

Well done to Mike Rapkins, John Pollard, Stan Munks and Dave Welsh. They won with a great score of 80 pts, although the runners up were only 6 behind, commiserations to Alwyn Brooks, Trevor Parrett, Dave Lowe and Martin McCarthy.

Light lunches were available afterwards courtesy of our Stewards Teresa and Steve.

If you fancy joining our Seniors group for some social and friendly golf feel free to check them out. The next seniors competition is scheduled for 1st February.
