Seniors vs Ladies match

Today, 12th October, saw the re-introduction of the Seniors men playing the Ladies.

After much discussion between Lady Captain Denise Chapman and Seniors Vice Captain, John Webster it was decided to make it a matchplay betterball pairs format with the Ladies playing off the Bronze tees and the Men off the Silvers.

It needed a review of England Golf rules to understand how to apply a fair handicap allowance when playing off two tees where the Course Ratings were different in this betterball format. Eventually the ladies gained an extra 4.1 shots to compensate for this and the playing handicaps were resolved!

After yesterday’s rain we were pleased to have a dry morning and 5 matches with 20 players set off. The score ended up with a 4-1 victory to the men. The result was announced over drinks and food in the Clubhouse and after the good time that was had by all participants we hope to make this a regular fixture in the calendar once more.

Bearing in mind that we were also close to the 19th Oct which is World Breast Cancer Awareness Day we held a raffle and raised over £150 to donate to one of our staff who is undergoing treatment at this time. We all wish her well.
