Seniors start their 2022 Competitions

Who says it’s too cold to play golf? Our seniors section, that meet regularly on a Tuesday and Thurday morning, held their first competiton of the year today (6th January).

It may have been -1 deg C at 9.00 and the fairways and greens somewhat frozen, but that did not deter the hardy group from playing a yellow ball stableford, best 2 from 3 competition.

To make things worse, by 12.00 the forecast snow arrived as predicted making the last few holes even more challenging.

No suprIses that the winning score over 16 holes, was just 66pts. This was enough to give Gordon Kells, Dick Easter and Malc Draycott a 5 point victory over runners up Stan Munks, Trev Haslam and Trevor Parrett.

Warm coffee and chips were need by most at the end to get some feeling back into their fingers, but notwithstanding that, a good morning was had by all.

By the time of the next Seniors Comp, on 3rd Feb, we should all be in shorts!!
