Mens Order of Merit 2021

Congratulations go to Gary Glynn, this year’s winner of our Mens Order of Merit. A great performance with him being in the top ten in 6 of the 9 qualifying competitions, showing season long consistency. In the end, he won by over 200 points from Runner Up, Paul Eveson.

Taking into account Covid restrictions; this season long Competition had a delayed start, commencing in May and ran through to the last week end. The top 30 players in each of the qualifying competitions accumulated points in a league table. Nine competitions were included this year.

They were selected to give a spread throughout the summer with the final competition of the year, the Searson Cup having double points allocated. (Players who had not qualified for the Searson Cup were still be able to play in a Competition on that day but only for the ‘normal’ 100 points etc. (ie NOT double)).

The qualifying competitions in 2021 were:

Stroyan Cup Qualifier – Sat 15th May
Morewood Cup – Sat 29th May
Speeds Trophy – Sat 12th June
Stroyan Medal – Sat 19th June
Crickmore Salver- Sat 17th July
Silkstone Cup – Sat 31st July
Mark Strange Trophy – Sat 28th August
September Medal – Sat 4th Sept
Searson Cup/Stableford – Sat 9th Oct

The ‘minor places’ were always in doubt as positions changed from month to month but Paul’s good finish in the final competiton pulled him up to runners up spot. However, one thing remained constant nearly all season with Gary sitting firmly on top of the pile, well done to him.
