New Members Social Competitions

After the ‘lockdown year’ of 2020 we saw an influx of new Members to our Golf Club. We wanted to continue this year with integration events to show them what our Club has to offer.

To that effect, we have run a further two social evening competitons, enabling these ‘newcomers’ to play with existing Members. The plan being to show them round the course, meet some new faces and have some fun too.

Being social competitions, they were open to players of all abilities, (even those without handicaps), they were also mixed events. The latest event held earlier this week also concluded with a BBQ.

Teams of new Members were paired along with a long-standing member playing in a Texas scramble format. It meant that any information about the running of our club, handicaps, rules etc could be asked of your team captain whilst you were on the course.

Winners of this latest social were Keith Else, Frank Beckett and Scott Morgan playing with Club Captain, Billy Morrison. Runners up were Donna Lucas-Yates, Rhyce Hallsworth, Gary Woodland playing with our Junior Organiser Martin Baraclough. Well done to all who participated.

Thanks goes to Pete Hilton for organsing these games over the past two seasons, we reckon nearly 50 players have played across all of them. Money has also been raised for the Captains Charity and our Junior section.

We now hope, that with restrictions lifting further, there may also be other social events taking place in our Clubhouse as well….watch this space.
