Terry Round Competition – 2020

After a second attempt, we managed last night (28th August), to complete the Terry Round Trophy. Originally played at the end of July we were washed off the course then, half way round, with one of those torrential summer storms.

As it had been a shotgun start it was not possible to find a winner that night with players having completed a range of holes and also some had managed to play more holes than others.

The Trophy is played in memory of Terry who died back in 2017 and this was the fourth annual gathering to remember him. So, rather than leave it unplayed in this strange year it was rescheduled for last night. However, the weather gods were still not playing ball and after an afternoon of continuous rain the brave souls who were prepared to go out agreed to reduce it to a 10 hole competition.

Well done to Trevor Pearson, (ex member, now playing at Ormonde), who played to his handicap and won with 20 points, just ahead of Roo Burnham (19) and Martyn Baraclough (18) who nicked third spot with a well timed birdie for 4pts on the last hole.

Terry would have been looking down on us laughing….he wouldn’t have gone out in that weather.
