Ladies vs Men Competition

The annual competition held between the Ladies and the Men took place yesterday, (Sunday 23rd).

Before each of these friendly, but competitive matches there is usually some banter to try to add to the mood of the game.

The gathered group got somewhat confused about what the format was going to be. Eventually, due to their being an even number of players, the Mens Captain Billy Morrison’s choice won out and it was played as betterball matchplay games rather than Linda Baston’s (Lady Captain) initial proposal for a single stableford and adding all the scores up.

(The choice was probably better as it meant the match was completed slightly more quickly on a showery afternoon).

The result came down to the last match, and despite the ladies fighting hard, the Men triumphed 3.5-1.5, congratulations to all who played. The result means the ‘prize’ of the rolling pin trophy remains in the hands of the ladies, with pink ribbons still adorning it. Handicapping and team selections proved to be about right with at least three of the five games going to the 16th green or beyond.

Next year the Lady Captain gets the choice of format!
