2020 Captains in position

Congratulations to our 2020 Captains, Billy Morrision and Linda Baston. Although our Club AGM was cancelled last week due to the current restrictions; Members welcomed them at an informal ‘drive in’ yesterday morning.

Billy feels it’s a great honour to be allowed to be our Club Captain, and hopes once these current restrictions are reduced that members and families participate in as many Club events as they can.

Linda was delighted to be asked to represent the Ladies and confirms that new members of whatever standard will always be welcomed.

They both thanked and appreciated the efforts of last year’s Captains Pete Labas and Ellie Bennett for all their hard work too.

Taking into account the current guidelines of social distancing, we continued yesterday afternoon with an AMAM competition, which was a mixed event and well supported by all areas of our Club from Gents, Ladies and Seniors.

The first prize, with an impressive 98 points, went to Stu Walters, Martin Baraclough, Phil Bennett and Bob Green. Runners up were a three ball (with a ‘pro’!) comprising Pete Gould, Jason Bingham and Wyn Avery with a close run 95 pts.

There were two ‘nearest the pin’ winners, Terry Taylor and Sue Bennett, (‘one in the eye’ to her husband, Chairman Phil, who made her pay for her own entry as he didn’t think it was worth the fee!!)

The prizes were awarded on the side of the 18th green. Afterwards, Captain Billy announced that the day (along with proceeds from the sale of photos of last season’s prizewinners), has raised nearly £300 towards the purchase of the new greens mower.

We all wish Billy and Linda a great year, albeit tinged with uncertainty at the moment.

Below are some pictures of the day.
