Three Club Challenge

What’s a three club challenge you may ask? No, it’s not a 3 way inter club competition, rather, you have to leave just three clubs in your bag and find a way to get round 11 holes in the best stableford score! One of them even has to be a putter.

Despite the summer weather deserting us, yesterday evening a number of Members turned up ready for just that challenge. A shotgun start at 5.00 saw them set off in waterproofs and umbrellas to try to beat the course once more.

Scoring, unsurprisingly was not quite as good as last year, but the winner Nigel Smith got 21pts over the 11 holes and won in a closely fought contest from Pete Hilton with the same score and Vice Captain, Billy Morrison coming third with a creditable 20pts. Who needs 14 clubs, Nigel’s victory was secured using a 4 hybrid, a nine iron and his putter.

Afterwards Captain Pete Labas presented the prizes in the Clubhouse in front of a damp but happy group.
